Stuff we'd want to know before downloading some random person's apps from the internet.
Built by hand and AI
Not churned out by a content farm or a VC-funded "move fast and break things" startup. Made by a person (and their AI assistant) who actually use the apps. If something's broken we fix it because it annoys us too.
Runs on your network (where possible)
Whenever we can, we make sure your data stays on your local network. We don't run servers that store your stuff unless it's absolutely necessary. We try to keep it so we couldn't look at your data even if someone paid us to.
No accounts (yet)
Download it. Use it. That's the whole process. No email verification, no password requirements. (At least for now, while we keep things simple.)
Mostly free
Our experimental and test apps are completely free. No "unlock pro features." No in-app purchases. No ads. (We might charge for future major tools to keep the lights on, though.)
Cross-platform
One codebase per app, built for every platform it makes sense on. We don't do "iPhone only" or "Chrome only." If you have a screen, we probably support it.
About the name
Yes, we called it "Broken Toolkit." No, the tools aren't broken. It's called self-deprecating humor. The toolkit might be broken but each tool inside works perfectly. Metaphor. Look it up.
